Rae is one of those authors who set out to do the impossible, weave Christian imagery into a canon based heavily in Japanese mythology. It's a tough sell, and a lot of work weaving the latticework of angelic lore into the world of the Shinigami, it complicates a story on many different levels and adds an almost nightmarish intensity to the images it presents.

Rae is one of the new wave of Tats/Tari authors wandering into the fandom of late, but she manages to follow the lives of all of the four main Shinigami throughout a startlingly complex plotline.
